When you want to celebrate July 4th with a truly patriotic plate, then check out these red, white and blue recipes. They’ll give each dish that extra touch that makes your party all the more festive.

Keep in mind that these red, white and blue recipes aren’t just focused on colors. They look great and are nutritious, too. These colors can all be attributed to the foods in the ingredients. None of these recipes contain artificial coloring.

This July 4th, you’ll have a party full of all-natural, all-American red, white and blue recipes. With natural, nutritious beauty on every plate, you can be proud to serve them to your guests – and yourself!

Here are some great ideas to get you started:

Red, white and blue popsicles – Using a slightly watered-down lemonade or limeade as a base (fresh and homemade is best!) fill the first third of the popsicle mold with crushed or chopped strawberries or cherries, then, fill the mold 2/3 of the way up with the lemonade or limeade. Put it in the freezer. Once it’s frozen, add whole or crushed blueberries and fill the rest of the way with the lemonade or limeade. That will make sure you have a red layer, a white layer and a blue layer! Great for kids of all ages.

Patriotic tortilla chips – Serve white and blue corn tortilla chips (you can buy them this way or buy the right colored tortillas and toast/cut them yourself). Serve with your favorite (red) salsa.

Fourth of July potato salad – Pick up some white potatoes, red skinned potatoes and blue potatoes. The colors help make the most festive July 4th side dish imaginable! Just prepare them the same way you’d make your favorite potato salad recipe.

Individual American flag mock trifles – In clear glass or plastic cups (you’ll want to see the layers) add fresh blueberries, fresh whipped cream and either strawberries or cherries. Buy frozen fruit and these become even easier to make and keep cold. It seems decadent but it’s chock full of vitamins and antioxidants
