College students have a lot on their plates. They need to keep up with their course loads, often work at least one job, hang out with friends, and maintain all their other activities. It is no wonder that with all of this stuff that they are going to gain weight when they go to college. But there are some nutrition tips that students can follow in order to stay healthy and not gain all that weight at school.

Make your own meals
Many students get stuck with the idea of having to pay for a meal plan while they are going to school. These meal plans are often huge and students will eat it all to not waste that money since school is already so expensive.

But you don’t have to use a meal plan each year, especially if you live off campus. Make some of your own healthy meals and take them along to classes to help avoid any temptations of overeating.

Skip the buffet
Many places to eat near or on campus are now buffets. This makes things easier on the school in terms of making food and getting it out quickly, but it is not going to do a lot to help with your diet or keeping the weight off. One of the nutrition tips you can try out is to avoid the buffets. Choose to go with something healthier, like a sit down that gives you set portions or go for the salad bar if you don’t want to gain a lot of weight.

Don’t eat out
The next of the nutrition tips is to not eat out. It is common for a lot of college students to go out to eat a lot. This is easy because you can just order and the food comes to you, the perfect solution if you are running behind or have a lot of work to do. This is not the perfect solution if you want to keep your wallet full and your waist small. Try to only eat out on special occasions rather than all of the time and you are sure to see some amazing results.

These are just a few of the nutrition tips that you can follow in order to stay healthy and happy in college. Make sure to get plenty of good foods like fruits and vegetables and lean meats so that your brain will work and you get the most benefits out of everything.
