The Spark Solution is a weight loss program that is designed to last for half a month and is meant to assist dieters in being able to reduce their body mass while improving their overall health. This program was created by the same experts who formed the popular free SparkPeople.com website, Becky Hand R.D. and Stefanie Romine. In this case, though, the program comes in the form of a book, instead of a website.
The promise made by the marketers of this book is that the people who follow its instructions will receive assistance in losing weight and will be able to drop up to 5 pounds within the two weeks that they follow it. Moreover, they will also be provided with the strategies that they need to stop the weight from returning.
The promise actually isn’t a ridiculous one. Although it does say “up to” 5 pounds, which suggests that some users may lose less than that, even the upper edge of that amount of weight loss is not considered extreme. In fact it is about the largest amount that a dieter should realistically try to lose in a healthy way. While most diets will cause 1 to 2 pounds of weight loss per week, it isn’t inconceivable to think that 2.5 pounds could be lost while using the right strategy (leading to 5 pounds per week).
However, to actually recognize whether or not the Spark Solution would be able to actually help a dieter to achieve this goal, it is important to have a closer look.
The focus of this book is to change the mindset of the dieter. It helps to alter some of the habits that will often lead to dieting failures by placing a focus on what is being done successfully and then building on that.
While the diet is actually only meant for two weeks, it provides the dieter with a full 38 day program that is broken into three different parts. The first part is the “14 Day Jumpstart”, which is not yet the diet but that is a period of preparation before the diet will begin. This focuses on building the drive that the dieter needs to keep up with the program, while learning tips and tricks to be able to lead a healthier lifestyle that will keep the weight from returning and that will make future weight loss easier.
Then, there is the “14 day Let’s Get Started” period, which is the actual diet itself. It focuses on meal preparation and fitness, providing diet plans and workout schedules. Finally, the last phase includes the “Tools for Success”, which integrates everything together so that the dieter can work toward longer term health and weight loss success.
