July 4th is known for its fantastic rich foods and as an awesome time to kick back and relax. At the same time, it’s the perfect moment to take on an Independence Day fitness challenge. This way, you can not only celebrate your patriotism, but you can also celebrate your right to be fit!
An Independence Day fitness challenge doesn’t have to be unpleasant or stop you from being able to celebrate. Instead, it lets you have fun while you do something healthful during this holiday. This can work regardless of whether you’re spending all day at the beach or hosting a backyard barbeque.
Here are some great ways to add an Independence Day fitness challenge to your July 4th. Take this chance to work in some exercise without missing a second of the day’s fun.
Get started on the right foot – The first step is to get up early and go for a brisk walk or run before the day reaches its hottest point. This will also make sure you have the time to do it before the day really gets going. You don’t have to get up earlier than you would on a work day. Just get up at a reasonable hour to give yourself enough time to exercise before you start the day.
Do lower body exercises during food prep – Sure, you can’t dance around while you’re chopping veggies with a sharp knife. However, there’s lots of time while you’re waiting for water to boil. The same is true while the chicken is in the fryer. Squats, dead-lifts and lunges can help you kill the time while giving your lower body a great quick workout. Leave the dancing for when you’re tearing up lettuce for the salad or snapping ends off green beans and asparagus.
Stick to a schedule – You don’t need to plan out every minute, but make sure you have exercise slated in throughout the day. That way, after you’ve relaxed and chatted on the beach, you can go for a brisk walk followed by a swim to cool down. If you’ve been sitting around and talking, you could challenge some friends and family to a game of badminton or volleyball. Make sure you work in some activity all day long instead of being sedentary for the full day.
Enjoy the evening air – After you’ve had a huge meal, welcome some of your friends and family to head out for a good walk to enjoy the cooler evening air and perhaps even some early fireworks in your neighborhood. You can even go for a quick bike ride before the sun goes down.
This July 4, celebrate your country but also your healthy life within it. If you think you might need a bit of extra energy to boost your results and your ability to keep up with such a busy day, don’t forget that Phenblue can make a considerable difference.
