Life can keep us busy and on the go, whether you’re a full time mom with a full house or a career workaholic. You have a super tight schedule and fitness may be the last thing on your to-do list. Being able to enjoy a relaxing jog in the park, cook a healthy meal or a heart-pounding workout might just as well be a fictional fantasy. How to stay fit when you are this busy and on the go? Keep reading to find out how you can include fitness and healthy eating in your hectic lifestyle.
Drinking Lots of Water
This is probably the easiest thing you can implement in your busy schedule. Drinking water on an empty stomach in the morning will help you flush out toxins and unhealthy bacteria.
Studies show our gut has about 2 to 3 pounds of unhealthy bacteria that can be easily detoxified with water. The only downside is you visit the toilet more often, but it’s a small price to pay. Drink water before meals to partially fill up your stomach. This way, you are less likely to overeat during your meals.
Prioritize Health and Fitness
Do you skip showers? Do you skip meals? Do you skip your favorite reality show at 8pm every day? If you have answered no, how are you able to skip fitness and healthy eating? With careful planning you can successfully incorporate fitness into your schedule. For example, spend Sunday mornings preparing healthy foods in the kitchen. You can pre-cut and marinate chicken pieces, so all you have to do is bake them in the oven during the week. You can pre-cut salads for an entire week and store them in the fridge in airtight containers.
With careful meal planning, you will keep yourself from ordering greasy takeout food or stopping at a drive thru for donuts. In terms of fitness, wake up a little early everyday and go for a run, even if it’s for just 20 minutes, or make more ‘active’ decisions when you are running errands, for example taking the stairs instead of the elevator. That’s how to stay fit when you are short on time.
Stay Motivated
Whenever you feel you are getting off track, start reading up on health and fitness (much like you are reading right now). When you read the benefits of a healthy lifestyle, it will keep you focused and motivated on how to stay fit even when you don’t feel like it.
Get Rest
Being busy also means being tired all the time. You may not be getting enough sleep or your everyday errands are just too tiring. Whatever free time you are able to salvage, try to de-stress and relax. It could be reading a book curled up on your couch or a relaxing bath with a glass of wine. Also, follow a proper sleep routine. Avoid working too late into the night. Prioritize all work during the day and keep the night for sleeping only.
